Synopsis |
Inspired by international arts festivals and carnivals such as the Notting Hill Carnival, the Brazilian Carnival and New Orleans Mardi Gras, Standard Chartered Arts In the Park – Mardi Gras 2008 was a festive outdoor event to celebrate the vitality and diversity of the Hong Kong community.
This event was inspired by the story of “Gulliver’s Travels”. 500 dancers and students have participated in a series of intensive art workshops, creating elaborate costumes, giant puppets and dance performances. There were 6 hours of back-to-back dance, music and circus performances, over 20 arts and crafts stalls for the public to create original carnival-inspired artwork, 6 interactive performing arts workshops that anyone can participate in and culminating in an exciting and colourful procession around the park and everyone was welcome to take part! |
