Synopsis |
The Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation has been invited to take part in “Shakespeare 24”, an exciting worldwide Shakespeare performance event. Beginning in New Zealand and ending 24 hours later in Hawaii, 60 youth groups will stage adaptations of Shakespeare\'s plays at same time on Shakespeare’s 444th birthday, celebrating their youth, culture and creativity - and Shakespeare.
Base on Shakespeare’s “King Lear”, YAF and 9 youth performers created “Lear’s Daughters.” This physical theatre will be focusing on the relationships between the women in the tragedy and their feelings towards Lear. Themes of the play such as Betrayal, Madness, Justice are highlighted and weaved together in an abstract and highly visual multi media performance in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. The piece is movement-based and is set to a soundtrack of eclectic music and spoken word. |
