Synopsis |
We have chosen contemporary dance as a medium to translate the different aspects of Chinese culture and arts into a dance performance. A participants-devised dance performance, this dance project uses traditional Chinese arts and culture as inspiration. 4 distinctive disciplines of Chinese arts and culture are chosen as stimulants for participants. They are: Poetry, Festivities, Folk Art and Calligraphy. A collection of stimulus together with a series of questions inspires the dancers to generate a sequence of movements that correspond to their emotions. The project provides young people with a valuable opportunity to access and create original choreography and expand their knowledge of Chinese arts and culture. General participants and audiences can also see Chinese culture in a whole different light. |
