| Synopsis |
The development of Chinese dance had been influenced by various elements of Chinese culture, from martial arts to Chinese opera, poetry, murals, and the regional and folk cultures of the land. The Rhythmic Fantasy of Chinese QuintEssence, a dance showcase with inspiration drawn from traditions and incorporated with original, innovative ideas to form new interpretations of Chinese dance. The first part features some of the most representative dances in the traditional repertoire. The second part celebrate China’s successful bid to host the summer Olympics. Under the themes of Chinese taichi, martial arts, philosophy and medicine, and with the use of swords, flowing sleeves and fans, the dances are performed against a background of multimedia display o flight, shadow and sound. The abstract and metaphysical concepts of jing, qi, shen (essence, air flow and spirit) in the art of Chinese dance are fully revealed. |
