Synopsis |
Inspired by the culture-clash romance The World of Suzie Wong, Stephen Jefferies’ chic, captivating ballet, with its vivid and lively Hong Kong setting, cheongsam fashions, premièred in March 2006 at Sha Tin Town Hall and became the most talked-about dance production in town. Following the successful première, the production was re-staged in November 2008.
The ballet’s acute sense of nostalgia is reflected in the original score tempting ballerinas to dance jive and cha-cha-cha in high heels. Chris Babida, taking the triple role of composition, conducting and music orchestration, leads his big band playing the original score incorporated with pop favourites from the 50s\' and 60s\'. Chris Babida will perform a piano solo for the romantic theme song, sung by special guest vocalists Donald Cheung and May Chan. |
