Synopsis |
Since 2008, Standard Chartered Arts in the Park Mardi Gras has been a popular community arts event, attracting over 70,000 visitors to the festivities, encouraging them to participate in vibrant and exciting art activities such as a parade, arts stalls and dance performances. The theme of this year is inspired by the five elements: Metal, Earth, Water, Fire and Air. The elements reflect our natural world and provide us the basic frameworks from which life and civilisation are possible. As such, the elements embody Mother Nature reminding us that we are ultimately at her mercy and that we should be grateful for the natural resources that we have. Each element also represents characteristics and ideas that are related to their roles in our lives, serving the basis of our inspirations. 3,000 young people have created dramatic costumes, giant puppets, flags and dance performances to flaunt their artistic talent. |
