| Synopsis |
This three-hour workshop invites the participant to explore ways to create movement through creative embodiment of words, sounds and/or images. The workshop will consist of three stages. Through a set of pre-performative training, the first stage allows the participant to examine systematic ways to develop a heightened sensory awareness, focus and a sense of presence. The second stage will introduce ways to enter in to the selected source material(s) and “translate” it into a series of tangible vocabularies, through which one can begin the embodiment process. The final stage focuses on developing a short movement piece: by working creatively and systematically with a sense of precision and clarity, what may be danced is the “poetry” in/of the source material rather than a mere description of it. |
