Synopsis |
The Hong Kong Ballet brought the everlasting ballet fairytale to life: Cinderella. This enchanting story was transformed into a ballet feast with Prokofiev's melodious music and the magical input of award-winning North-American choreographer David Allan.
Cinderella is a narrative known worldwide and many versions have been written. David Allan focused on Charles Perrault’s tale, adding some Russian elements, leading the dancers to depict the blossoming of Cinderella and Prince Charming’s poetic love, bringing a touch of romance and heart-warming emotions to the narrative. Designer Peter Cazalet’s magnificent sets and costumes also transformed the stage into a magical and fantasy world. Although everybody knows how the story ends, children and grown-ups were caught up in the romantic tale of the little princess, her prince, the fairy-godmother, the ugly sisters and the merciless stepmother. The humorous and poetic atmosphere with the splendid ballroom décor, magical forest scenes, the pumpkin carriage, the striking clock and the glass slipper, brought back childhood memories. |
