Synopsis |
The Hong Kong Dance Company’s Qingming Riverside took part in the cultural presentations at the 2010 Shanghai Expo at the invitation of the Hong Kong SAR Government, with two performances at the Shanghai Grand Theatre. The performance of this epic dance spectacle complemented the “Along the River during the Qingming Festival” multi-media display in the China Pavilion at the Shanghai Expo.
Featuring a hundred dancers and creative personnel, the opulent spectacle Qingming Riverside explores traditional Chinese culture through tapping into the rich dance culture of China as the basis of performance. It depicts the lives of Bianjing citizens during the Northern Song Dynasty (AD 960-1126) in broad painterly impressions, inviting the audience to travel through time to the dynamic city on the River Bian. This living painting salutes the long and profound history of Chinese culture through contemporary expressions. |
