Synopsis |
Hong Kong choreographer Yuri Ng, known for his quirky genius, was awarded the Prix d'Auteur at the Rencontres Choregraphiques internationals de Seine-Saint-Denis (Bagnolet) in France 1998, for his Boy Story . It is a prestigious work and has become a classic. Ingeniously crafted for six male dancers to explore the male's anxiety towards self-positioning integrated with the reservation of the local community about the handover of Hong Kong in the run-up to 1997. The work portrays the boys' romantic yet persistent pursuit of dreams in the city through body and posture. Nineteen years later, the cast from Malaysia and Taiwan with Ong Yong Lock, Artistic Director of Unlock Dancing Plaza, and the dancers from the premiere are reunited to revive the classic. The reunion also gives birth to a new combination, Boy Story Reborn, to subvert the pretty impression of Boy Story and delineate the fearless and aggressive life renewal of the new generation. |
