| Synopsis |
Genesis tells the story of the conception, birth and growth of new Chinese dance. It will proceed along four themes: 'Born out of Chaos', 'Hopes of Eden', 'Fruits of Experimentation' and 'Spring Breeze under the Tree'. In this guided appreciation series on dance classics of the 20th century China, we will look at thirty-two famous dances of different eras. By presenting the creative rationale behind those works, participants in the series can not only gain an overview of the growth and development of the 20thcentury Chinese dance, they will also be able to enhance their critical abilities and aesthetic perspectives towards dance. There will also be demonstrations and expositions which will enable participants to experience more vividly the emotions and nuances of the dance works to enhance their learning experience. |
