Synopsis |
Acknowledged as one of the most groundbreaking modern composers of the 20th century, the work of Igor Stravinsky is known for his broad stylistic range. His innovative use of rhythmic structure in music transformed subsequent generations, establishing him as a musical revolutionary force.
Jazz, Rituals & War: Stravinsky’s Revolution brought together three ballet pieces connected by music scores by Stravinsky - dance master George Balanchine's colourful, American Jazz age inspired Rubies; Natalie Weir's The Rite of Spring, with its distinctive Aboriginal cultural influence; and Symphony in Three Movements, Nils Christe's work on the dark emotions connected with war. This programme featured Guest Artist Lana Jones, Principal Artist from The Australian Ballet. |
