Synopsis |
Building on the success of their acclaimed programmes A Trilogy of Modern Dance at the Kennedy Center in 2005 and Awakening in Hong Kong in 2007, the acclaimed modern dance companies led by Willy Tsao – CCDC, Guangdong Modern Dance Company and BeijingDance/LDTX, join forces once again to showcase their latest works. Mui Cheuk-yin, Associate Choreographer of CCDC, refashions the Chinese nanyin classic, Ke Tu Qiu Hen, in her piece The Tale of Miles, while showcasing contemporary Cantonese elegance. Inspired by the poetry of Bei Dao, the Resident Choreographer of Guangdong Modern Dance Company, Liu Qi creates a calm, profound and sophisticated statement through her well-known fluidity and sensitivity of movement in Voice After. And, with music composed by Tan Dun, and choreography by both Li Hanzhong, Deputy Director of LDTX and Ma Bo, choreographer of BeijingDance/LDTX, First Ritual invites audiences to spread their imaginary wings as it explores an ancient sense of beauty revealed through ritual. |
