Biography
A self-trained dancer/choreographer upon his graduation from The Chinese University of Hong Kong (major in Fine Arts and minor in Music). Yeung went to Holland to begin his training in choreography with scholarship at the age of 29 in 1996. In 2000, he was awarded the “Hong Kong Dance Award” by Hong Kong Dance Alliance for his first full-length solo work Dance Exhibitionist and started to tour in different major festivals both in Asia and Europe. In 2002, Yeung was commissioned by the Hong Kong Arts Festival for his dance drama Play Boys and was nominated as “The Choreographer To Look At” in the BalletTanz year book in Europe. He was given the “Rising Artist Award” by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council the year after and was awarded again for the “Hong Kong Dance Award” of Hong Kong Dance Alliance 2005 for his full-length solo dance Metalove. His recent commissioned group work Feng created for 12 dancers of City Contemporary Dance Centre. In 2006, and solo work Medi.C created for his own in 2008, have both been selected by the South China Morning Post as “Top Five Best Dance Works of the Year”.
