Biography
Born in Hong Kong, Law Yiu-Wai participated in dance activities since his secondary school days, engaging actively in performance and choreography. He graduated from the Central College for Nationalities in 1983. Law became a dancer with the Hong Kong Dance Company until 1984. Since then, he has been teaching and creating new works. He is now the instructor and Artistic Director of the Elegance Society Dance Troupe, Ta Ge See, Variety of Colour Dance & Performance Group and Hong Kong Ethnic Dance Group. He is a founder of Association of Hong Kong Dance Organizations and is now the Vice Chairman of the Association. He is also the Consultant of Dancing Arts of the Cultural Committee of the Provisional Urban Council. Law’s works include a wide variety ranging from traditional classical Chinese dance and Chinese folk dance to different ethnic tribal dances and he has been awarded merits and honors at various Hong Kong Chinese Dance Choreography Competitions. He choreographed for School of Dance of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Hong Kong Dance Company. Law participates in all works organized by the Association of Hong Kong Dance Organizations and acted as the chief choreographer. The recent production is “The Great River” in 2013. Law had coached Hong Kong team twice to participate the Minorities Art Festival of China held in Beijing.
