Biography
Born in Shanghai, Huang Zhen graduated from the Shanghai Dance Academy in 2000, majored in ballet. He then pursued his study at Performing Arts College of Shanghai Normal University and School of Ballet of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and graduated from the Shanghai Normal University in 2003.
During the years in Shanghai, Huang Zhen has received various awards including Gold Medal at the China National Peach & Plum Cup (Junior Section) in 2000, Hu Chu Nan Best Arts Students & Teachers Awards in 1998 and 2000, Third Prize of Junior Division of Helsinki International Ballet Competition and Jury Award of Encouragement in The 2nd Shanghai International Ballet Competition in 2001. He has performed several times in Kumamoto and Tokyo from 1998 to 2001 and was invited to perform in an International Ballet Competition in Nagoya, Japan in 2002.Huang Zhen joined The Hong Kong Ballet in September 2003 as Corps de Ballet and promoted to Soloist in 2006 and Principal Dancer in 2009.
