Introduction With flourishing information technology, various styles of dance from around the world gradually gain grounds in Hong Kong. Some of these have even grown into huge success and new markets. This, at the same time, poses a challenge if not threat to traditional dance which has taken root in the Hong Kong in last few decades. What are dance educators doing to strike a balance between preserving traditional dance values and adjusting to the changing trend? How do they fine tune their education concepts? Will local dance education benefit from the changes and become more multifaceted?
Presented by Hong Kong Dance Sector Joint Conference and sponsored by Hong Kong Arts Development Council, the Hong Kong Dance Forum aims to provide a platform for dance educators to share their experience and views, and find ways to give boost to the local dance sector. The content of the forum has been transcribed and published in "Hong Kong Dance Yearbook 2009-2010".
